CHURCH OF SAINT MARK

The Church of St Mark is a Syriac Orthodox church in the Armenian quarter. Syriac Christians are the first people who adopted Christianity as indigenous people of the Holy Land. Syriac is the Aramaic dialect Jesus spoke. The oldest surviving liturgy in Christianity is served in Syriac. Syriac Orthodox Church is an Oriental Orthodox church which is autonomous and doesn’t belong either to Rome nor Constantipole. The Church of St Mark is one of the most beautiful churches I have seen in Jerusalem.
