DOME OF ASCENSION

The Dome of Ascension is another popular holy site in Israel.  It is one of the sacred sites of Christianity but also one of the sacred sites of Islam. It is a Christian and Islam sacred site on Mount Zion where Jesus ascended to Haven. The shrine has been a part of a mosque since the 12th century when Sultan Saladin defeated the Crusaders. Since Muslims believe also in the Ascension of Jesus Christ, the church was converted into a mosque. Christians are allowed to celebrate the Ascension here on the Ascension Feast Day.
