MUHRAKA MONASTERY

The Muhraka monastery is a Carmelite monastery on the top of the Carmel mount and the place where the prophet Elijah lived and fought the prophets of Baal. This is a sacred place for Jews, Christians, and Muslims and one of the holy sites in Israel. A Catholic religious order called the Carmelite Order was founded here more than 800 years ago. The views over the Jezreel Valley from the monastery are simply spectacular.
